As we approach the final weeks of the academic year, I am filled with pride and excitement as I reflect on the achievements and growth of our students. This week, I want to extend a heartfelt congratulations to all students who have dedicated themselves to preparing for and completing their Advanced Placement (AP) exams. The AP season is drawing to a close, and your hard work, perseverance, and commitment throughout the year have truly been inspiring. Well done!

Embracing the Demands of AP Courses

For those who have just completed their AP exams, I hope you take a moment to celebrate your accomplishments. For students planning to enroll in AP courses next year, I encourage you to consider a proactive approach to your studies. One effective strategy is to familiarize yourself with the course material over the summer. Obtain the textbook for your chosen AP subject and begin reviewing it before classes start. This head start can provide a significant advantage, particularly for:

對于剛完成 AP 考試的同學(xué)，希望你們能停下腳步，為自己的付出喝彩。對于計劃明年選修 AP 課程的學(xué)生，我鼓勵大家用積極主動的態(tài)度迎接學(xué)習(xí) ——利用暑假提前熟悉課程內(nèi)容便是有效的策略。提前獲取所選 AP 科目的教材，在開課前開始預(yù)習(xí)。這一準(zhǔn)備尤其能為兩類學(xué)生帶來顯著優(yōu)勢：

While this approach may not be for everyone, those who embrace it will undoubtedly find themselves better prepared for the challenges ahead.

Enhancing Language Studies and Note-Taking Skills

強化語言學(xué)習(xí)與筆記技巧

Over the past three weeks, I have had the pleasure of meeting with many families and students, and a common theme has emerged: the desire to improve language proficiency and academic performance. One strategy that has proven effective is refining note-taking and study habits.

過去三周，我有幸與許多家庭和學(xué)生交流，發(fā)現(xiàn)大家普遍渴望提升語言能力與學(xué)業(yè)表現(xiàn)。實踐證明，優(yōu)化筆記習(xí)慣和學(xué)習(xí)方法是行之有效的途徑。

During our discussions, I posed a question to students who sought additional language support or aimed to boost their GPA: “Is it unreasonable to aim for at least 7 key ideas or notes per class?” To my delight, no one felt this was unattainable. With 7 classes per day, this translates to 49 notes daily—rounded up to 50 for simplicity.

在與尋求語言支持或希望提升 GPA 的學(xué)生交流時，我曾問：“每節(jié)課至少記錄 7 個核心要點或筆記，這個目標(biāo)是否不合理？” 令人欣喜的是，所有人都認(rèn)為這是可行的。以每天 7 節(jié)課計算，每日可積累 49 條筆記（簡化后按 50 條計）。

Let’s break this down further:

5 days per week × 50 notes = 250.

4 weeks per month × 250 notes = 1000 notes. 

每月 4 周 × 250 條筆記 = 1000 條 / 月

10 months of school × 1,000 notes = 10,000 notes (though our initial math suggested 30,000 with deeper engagement and review).

學(xué)年 10 個月 × 1000 條筆記 = 10,000 條 / 學(xué)年（若深入復(fù)習(xí)，初始計算甚至可達(dá) 30,000 條）

While 30,000 notes may sound daunting, the point is clear: consistent, structured note-taking and review can transform your learning. Bit by bit. Don’t see 30000, see 7. When students were asked if moving from zero notes to 30,000 would improve their English, grades, or free time, the answer was unanimous: Yes!

30,000 條筆記聽起來或許令人卻步，但關(guān)鍵在于：持續(xù)、有條理的記錄與復(fù)習(xí)，能逐步重塑學(xué)習(xí)效果。不要盯著 30,000 這個數(shù)字，先著眼于每節(jié)課的 7 條筆記。當(dāng)被問及 “從 0 條筆記到 30,000 條，是否能提升英語水平、成績或優(yōu)化時間管理” 時，學(xué)生們的回答一致是：能！

My challenge to you: Start this Monday. Aim for 7 notes per class (minimum) and review them regularly. If you encounter unfamiliar vocabulary, graphs, formulas, or maps, make it your mission to clarify them. Even without perfect understanding, the act of documenting and revisiting ideas is a powerful step toward mastery.

我的建議是：從本周一開始，每節(jié)課至少記錄 7 條筆記，并定期復(fù)習(xí)。遇到不熟悉的詞匯、圖表、公式或地圖，務(wù)必及時弄清楚。即使暫時未能完全理解，記錄和回顧的過程本身，已是邁向掌握的重要一步。

As our Grade 12 students approach their final four days of “classroom” instruction (with graduation ceremonies on the horizon), the entire RDF community bids you a warm farewell. Your leadership, resilience, and achievements have left an indelible mark on our school, and we wish you all the best as you embark on your next adventures.
